Rural Recovery Accelerator & the Future of Opportunity Zones

Opportunity Zones have been a great organizing tool for local project development and investment “ecosystems.” Opportunity Alabama, which spent the last two years building these ecosystems at the state and local levels, has distilled its ecosystem building best practices into a new program called the Rural Recovery Accelerator (RRA). RRA is a comprehensive 8-12 week program that takes 4-6 communities at a time through a series of structured deliverables designed to (1) identify the best potential projects in a community and (2) build all the supporting infrastructure (from demand studies and pro forma to developer connections and tenants) necessary to take those deals to market.  On December 17th, EDAA will host Alex Flachsbart from Opportunity Alabama for a deep dive on what he’s seen during the first two rounds of RRA, and what he expects to see from Opportunity Zones more generally as a new administration takes over in DC.
