It is important to all of Alabama that economic development in all rural places improve. Your Alabama Department of Commerce, working with the legislature, recognized that some areas need additional assistance. On August 1, 2019, the first Rural Development Manager was brought on board at the Department of Commerce to further assist our forty rural counties. Working with other agencies, partners, and programs, Brenda Tuck will provide technical assistance and resources to these rural counties as needed.

Additionally, through EDAA and other stakeholders, a group of leaders is working to help rural communities be better prepared to attract and sustain growth. Brian Hilson will discuss how a new rural pilot initiative will prepare rural Alabama to be more successful.

USDA representatives from around the state will be on site for one-on-one discussions about how their programs may be a fit for your community. Programs include, but are not limited to, Business & Industry Loan Guarantees, Economic Impact Initiatives Grants, and the Rural Economic Development Loan and Grant Program.

Come learn about existing and new resources available to help improve the economy and quality of life in rural Alabama.

Light refreshments will immediately follow the seminar.
