Title: Leveraging Business Accelerators to Stimulate Local Economies

When:  3:00 pm

Where: Center for Commerce, 7th Floor Auditorium, 401 Adams Avenue, Montgomery, AL 35213

Cost: $25

Description:

The presentation will provide insights into the ways in which communities, regionally and nationally, are using accelerators to catalyze economic growth. From stimulating local entrepreneurship and attracting outside talent, to providing startup mentorship and increasing access to investors, accelerators are increasingly becoming a driving force for new growth. We will explore how cities, large and small, that are outside of traditional tech-hubs are leveraging accelerators to address gaps in their ecosystem and stimulate their local economies. Last session, through the AIM Act, Alabama created a mechanism through the Growing Alabama Tax Credit that can assist economic development organizations seeking to launch technology accelerator programs, so the program will also address eligibility for that funding and the process for applying.
